Cartier Queen’s Cup Final

 

 

The biggest names in the sport of polo were in action yesterday on the Queen’s Ground at Guards Polo Club, Windsor Great Park in a bid to win the Cartier Queen’s Cup 2014.

One of the most prestigious and renowned events of the British sporting calendar, watched by HM The Queen, Arnaud M. Bamberger, Executive Chairman Cartier Ltd, and Laurent Feniou, Managing Director Cartier Ltd, alongside a strong crowd of polo aficionados, was played out yesterday. Before the match started the Band of the Grenadier Guards paraded on the field into the shape of the figure 30 to celebrate Cartier’s three decades of sponsorship of polo at Guards Polo Club. The summit of the day was the exhilarating play for the Queen’s Cup between Zacara and Talandracas. An impressive performance over the highly regarded Talandracas ensured that Zacara patron Lyndon Lea stepped forward to receive the trophy from HM The Queen. In fact Zacara had an easier time than even they thought possible, winning the game 10-7, and were so dominant in the first half of the match that they were 6-2 up at half-time.

‘The King of Jewellers’, Cartier, celebrated a long-standing tradition of supporting polo over 30 years, the true ‘Sport of Kings’ the world over. Cartier UK is delighted to continue its involvement in the prestigious high-goal Queen’s Cup tournament.

The tournament itself began on Tuesday 20th May, commencing three weeks of electrifying high-goal polo. This world-leading tournament concluded yesterday, Sunday 15th June, with the historic final played in the presence of HM The Queen. With 15 teams entering this most prestigious of tournaments, all expectations were exceeded.

To mirror the impressive talent on the field, Cartier invited guests from the worlds of stage, screen, sport, society, and literature into the Cartier enclosure, welcoming them to the elegant reception, serving Cartier champagne and a lunch created by Mosimann’s.

Cartier UK has long been associated with the highly disciplined and prestigious sport of polo.  Three-Team Deal Brings Veteran Leadership to Los Angeles  

 LOS ANGELES, CA – May 12, 2014 – LA KISS today announced the acquisition of 21-year veteran quarterback Aaron Garcia. Garcia, who in 2012 was named No. 3 on the league’s list of Top 25 Greatest Players, owns every major AFL career passing record. During his career, Garcia has amassed 4,381 completions, 7,546 attempts, 60,450 yards and 1,310 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 46 touchdowns.

 In exchange for the record holder, LA sends quarterback J.J. Raterink, the No. 3 claim spot and future considerations to the Jacksonville Sharks. Jacksonville sends Raterink to the Iowa Barnstormers in exchange for defensive tackle James McClinton.

 “Aaron brings an incredible pedigree and much-needed competitive spirit to LA KISS,” says LA KISS Head Coach Bob McMillen. “He’s been able to do some amazing things in this league and we’re confident he will help us move ahead – both on and off the field.”

 A product of Northern California (Sacramento State), Garcia made his AFL debut in 1995 with the Arizona Rattlers. Since then, he has played with several winning franchises and earned numerous arena football accolades including three First Team All-Arena selections (2000, 2001, 2011), two AFL Offensive Player of the Year nods (2001, 2011) and an ArenaBowl MVP award for his winning performance in 2011’s ArenaBowl XXIV.

 Garcia will join the LA KISS (2-6) this weekend as they face-off against the Pittsburgh Power (5-3), Saturday, May 17, 2014. The game kicks off at 3PM (PDT) and will be broadcast nationally via the CBS Sports Network.
